A Few of my Favorite Things: Pancakes...all day (and fun places)
We have already established that I love breakfast! It is truly one of my favorite things! Well, pancakes are at the top of that list! And I could eat them anytime of the day!
I just recently found out that one of our favorite pancake places is about to close after being in business for 61 years. So, I figured it was time to reminisce about this piece of Florida history: De Leon Springs State Park!
If you have never visited the The Old Spanish Sugar Mill Restaurant, you must add it to your list…but do it before September 12th! After that date, the State of Florida is turning the concession over to a different business. (AND I am not happy about it!)
The novelty of this place is that YOU get to cook your pancakes on a griddle at your table. The pancakes are all you can eat for one low price...and you can choose from regular or wheat pancakes. You can also choose toppings like blueberries, apples, pecans, and chocolate chips! Meats and eggs are also available, but they are cooked in the kitchen.
The restaurant is located within the state park (so there is an admission fee). You can swim, kayak, take a tour, and just relax before or after your meal! The views from the restaurant are also pretty beautiful!
Please go eat here for those of us who now live in Alaska and won’t be able to visit one last time! It is a great road trip…and you won't be disappointed by this treasure of Old Florida!
